Build it and they will come, and probably be scared! Families, companies, and small groups are invited to purchase a scarecrow pack and create your own scarecrow. Participants will pick up their packs on Saturday October 1st from 9:00am-Noon at the Recreation Center. All scarecrows must be assembled and returned to the Rec Center by Friday October 14th for public viewing along the scarecrow trail. This American Red Cross teaches individuals the necessary skills to become a professional lifeguard in today’s aquatic facilities. Participants MUST be able to demonstrate the following prerequisite skills: Swim 300 yards continuously using the strokes in the following order: 100 yards front crawl with rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick, 100 yards breaststroke using a pull breathe, kick, glide sequence and 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to the surface, swim 20 yds back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds. Must be age 15 by the last day of class. Attendance and participation is MANDATORY! Certifications will be issued upon successful completion. #403319-01
