Located on 15.97 square miles in the western edge of Cuyahoga County, Westlake is approximately one mile south of the southern shore of
Lake Erie. It is a 15-minute commute via I-90 to downtown Cleveland.
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is six miles or approximately 15 minutes southeast, conveniently linked by I-480 via Crocker Road. The Ohio Turnpike is also accessed by a short drive to the south.

Westlake's 2011 population is estimated at 32,729, which has been updated from the 2010 United States Census figures.
The city's residents have many housing options including neighborhoods of single family homes, as well as condominiums, townhouses and cluster homes and apartments. In addition, the city has several independent living, assisted living and nursing home facilities.

Interstate 90, which passes through the city (east/west), has interchanges at Clague Road, Columbia Road (State Route 252) and Crocker Road. Crocker Road is a four-lane highway, crossing the city from north to south, and connecting I-90 to Interstate 480.
Rail service by Norfolk and Western is available in the city’s industrial area along its northern border.
