The Westlake Community Improvement Corporation (C.I.C.) was created in 1975 to stimulate economic development by issuing Industrial Revenue Development Bonds. Since its inception, the C.I.C. has issued 24 lower interest bonds totaling $63.6 million dollars. Originally IRBs could be used for industrial and office buildings but are now limited to industrial and manufacturing buildings. The latest issuance of an Industrial Revenue Bond was for Logan Clutch Company on Ranney Parkway. The Community Improvement Corporation is made up of seven trustees who meet at least once a year and as needed during the year to review and act on items brought to the corporation.
