Building Custodian – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a Building Custodian for the Department of Recreation Center. The position will be under the general direction of the Facility & Grounds Manager, the individual in this position will supervise the work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure all areas of the Recreation Center and premises, including the park are clean, orderly and attractive. Network Administrator Technician – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a Network Administrator Technician for the Information Technology Department. Under the direction of the Director of Purchasing, the individual in this position will be the lead technical resource of the department responsible for administering all of the City’s technology systems, ensure the technology tools in place are operational and available to end users. This individual will also be responsible for the planning, organizing, controlling and management of daily operations of the Information Technology Department, including quality control and technology projects. This individual will be responsible for working with management and therefore should have a technical understanding as well as business management qualifications. Apart from formal education, a Network Administrator must have excellent communication skills, analyzing abilities and project management skills. Service Worker III – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a Service Worker III for the Department of Public Service. The position will be assigned by the Director of Public Service to City facilities and property to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled custodial and maintenance functions. Assistant Aquatics Manager – The City of Westlake, Ohio is currently hiring for a Assistant Aquatics Manager. Under the direction of the Aquatics Manager, the individual in this position will perform a variety of administrative and supervisory functions. The Assistant Aquatics Manager is responsible for supervising, planning, organizing and directing aquatics activities of the Recreation Center and Peterson Pool. The normal work hours for this position shall include nights and weekends. Communication Dispatcher – The City of Westlake is currently accepting applications to fill a full-time dispatcher position. This position works under the general supervision of the Police Chief and/or his designee providing a broad range of support to the City of Westlake Police Department. This position performs a variety of technical, administrative, and routine clerical work related to receiving and disseminating emergency and routine information; keeping official records; and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the department’s Communications Center. CERT Coordinator – The Westshore Council of Governments is seeking a candidate for a part-time position. The Coordinator will perform various duties that include the management of programs on emergency preparedness, conduct informational safety courses, organize surrounding communities in the distribution of safety protocols, as well as recruit, instruct and train emergency management volunteer personnel. Fire/EMS Dispatcher – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Fire/EMS Dispatcher for the Westshore Central Dispatch Center. The Westshore Central Dispatch Center (“WCD”) is recruiting for a part-time Fire/EMS dispatcher. The WCD sends fire and EMS responders to emergency calls in the cities of Bay Village, Fairview Park, North Ridgeville, Rocky River and Westlake and for mutual aid to other neighboring communities. This position will perform fire/EMS dispatch work operating and monitoring communications equipment in response to fire and medical emergencies. Tot Room Attendant –The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Tot Room Attendant for its Recreation Center. Under the direction of the Front Desk Manager, the tot room attendant supervises up to 8 children between the ages of 6 months and 9 years old while parents utilize another area of the building. Information Technology Intern – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Information Technology Intern for the Information Technology Department. This internship offers practical work experience, an introduction to audio/visual and Windows desktop support and an opportunity to gain experience with the technical operations of a government organization. This internship will involve challenging opportunities, real technical projects, and interaction with staff. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the audio/visual and computer field. Lifeguard – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Lifeguard for its Recreation Center. Under the direction of the Pool Supervisor, Assistant Aquatics Manager, and/or Aquatics Manager, the Lifeguard is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of those using the recreation center swimming pools and Peterson Pool at Clague Park. A lifeguard’s major responsibility is to observe swimmers and enforce regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents. Crossing Guard – The City of Westlake has an immediate opening for a school crossing guard. Must be able to work 1.5 hours prior to the start of school and 1.5 hours at dismissal time. Group Exercise Instructor – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Group Exercise Instructor for its Recreation Center. The group exercise instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering safe, effective and motivating classes. Instructors need to be knowledgeable, professional, dependable, and responsible. Front Desk Clerk (Part Time II) – The City of Westlake, Ohio is recruiting for a part-time Front Desk Clerk for its Recreation Center. Under the direction of the Front Desk Manager, the Front Desk Clerk is the primary contact person for anyone utilizing the Recreation Center. Duties include processing monetary transactions and balancing daily transactions, operating a computer with facility management software and assisting patrons both in person and on the phone. Civil Service Exams

Police Department:
A Civil Service exam was duly advertised and held on August 23, 2014, for entry level position of patrol officer in the Westlake Police Department. Applicants who obtained and returned their application before the specified deadline were eligible for the exam. Westlake conducts these exams approximately every two years.

Fire Department:
A Civil Service exam was duly advertised and held on October 10, 2015, for entry level position of firefighter/EMT in the Westlake Fire Department. Applicants who obtained and returned their application before the specified deadline were eligible for the exam. Westlake conducts these exams approximately every two years.

A list of qualified applicants is developed from both the Police and Fire exam and is used for hiring until the next test is administered.
