The Westlake Recreation Department organizes and sponsors a variety of sporting activities and leagues throughout the year. There's an activity here for everyone! To view descriptions and requirements for the various sports leagues, scroll down on this page. If you have any questions, please contact the Recreation Center at 440-808-5700. Basketball


The Westlake Recreation Center offers adult and youth basketball leagues throughout the year. The adult leagues consist of both "Open Height" and "30 & Over" divisions. All teams must pay an entry fee and forfeit fee prior to the start of the season. All players must be under contract. Teams in the "30 & Over" league are permitted to have one player under the age of 30 but must be at least 28 years of age by Nov. 1.

We also offer youth basketball leagues for children in grades 1-12. These leagues are designed to instruct youth on the fundamentals of basketball. Individuals must register for this league based on grade level and will be placed on a team. Children, who live in, go to school in or are members of the Westlake Recreation Center are eligible to participate. Any child who participates on a CYO or other interscholastic basketball team may NOT participate as deemed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association eligibility rules.

Volunteer coaches are needed for all divisions and requests to be on certain teams will not be honored. Registration deadline is Nov. 2 of the current year.

Flag Football


The Westlake Recreation Center hosts a youth flag football league for children grades 1-2. This co-ed league introduces children to the fun of playing football without the contact. Teams usually practice during the week and play games on Saturdays. Games are played on a small-size field at the Recreation Center. Registration fee includes a jersey and wristbands. All game supplies are provided by the Westlake Recreation Department.

 


Softball


The Westlake Recreation Department offers summer and fall adult softball leagues for men and coed teams on Sundays and weekdays. The summer league begins in late April/early May and the fall league begins in late August. All teams must pay an entry fee and forfeit fee prior to the start of the season. All players must be under contract.

Gray Eagles 55 & Over Softball League

Do you still have that glove oiled and the tape on the bat? If so, we have a softball league for you! If you are interested in playing or would like some more information, please call Ed Hammond at 440-871-7772.



Volleyball


The Westlake Recreation Center offers adult coed volleyball leagues and girls volleyball leagues. Adult coed leagues are offered throughout most of the year. . All teams must pay an entry fee and forfeit fee prior to the start of the season. All players must be under contract. Girl's volleyball takes place in the fall season.
