If you're short on time but still want a good workout, come to the DEN for a 30-minute circuit style workout complete with cardio and muscle conditioning. Hours are Tues/Fri from 7:30 - 10 a.m. Free for members only.

Beginners: You will increase your flexibility, balance, coordination and strengthen core muscles as you learn torso and pelvic isolations, shimmies and so much more while moving to the exotic rhythms of the Middle East and North Africa... Meanwhile studying the art of Raqs Sharqi or Belly Dance.
Continuing Beginners: Refine your basic technique in this course for continuing beginners or anyone who has previous belly dance experience. You will learn to layer movements and combinations
as you begin to develop your own interpretive style to popular Arabic and North African rhythms. These will be combined into choreography that you will learn by the end of the session with a complimentary CD.
This balanced workout combines strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance without running, dancing, jumping, or jazzing. This workout accommodates beginner to advanced fitness levels (work at your own pace). Bring a set of 5 pound (each) dumbbells, an exercise mat, a stretch band or towel and a water bottle. This one day class will include instruction on how to properly use the Cybex equipment only and other important fitness room information. Participants will receive a basic workout program and helpful hints and tips to get the most out of each workout. This class is for beginning fitness levels. Max 6.
Fit Camp is a one-hour group fitness class for both men and women. Sessions will include strength training with weights, stretch bands, calisthenics and medicine balls. Sessions will take place both inside and outside at the Rec Center. Exercises will also include intervals of cardio, flexibility and isometric strength.
A fun challenging workout for moms with children ages 0 through 2 only. An instructor will lead you through an exercise session while staff watches your child in the gym. Classes could be one or all of the following: step, toning, kickboxing on Monday and Wednesday. Friday is spinning! Two children per adult is the limit for this class. This fine-tuned 30 minute abdominal class works strictly on the waistline— upper, lower and sides. Exercises are designed to reduce lower back strain while increasing torso strength. Bring an exercise mat and water bottle to class. Classes taught by a Certified Fitness Trainer. Ages 16 & older. Exterior Designs Staff, instructors.
Pilates is great for total body conditioning, improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, alignment, coordination and sense of well-being. Pilates exercises strengthen the body from its center core to provide stability to derive stress free movement of the limbs. Gloria Brooker - Instructor.
Women who exercise regularly during pregnancy experience fewer common pre-natal discomforts. Exercise enhances a woman's psychological well-being, improves posture and body mechanics, facilitates circulation, reduces pelvic pain and increases energy levels. Please bring a towel and water. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.
Tai Chi is meditation in motion. This ancient form of exercise, with its controlled, gentle movements coordinates body, breath and mind, restoring and promoting health, well being and balance. At the same time relaxing and energizing. Tai Chi improves focus, concentration and endurance. Learn how the principles of harmony and fluidity can make a difference in reducing stress, tension and anxiety in your life. (Wu style - long form). Ages 18 and over. Max 20.
A well-rounded fitness program is not complete without strength training. Strength training increases your muscle mass, metabolic rate and bone density. You will learn how to develop and implement a safe weight training program while using free weights and Cybex equipment in the fitness room to tone and strengthen (not bulk) all major muscle groups. Our yoga class will help manage stress, quiet your minds, increase flexibility, create strength and stamina, improve posture and bring balance to spirit, mind and body. Each class will include gentle warm up stretches, practice basic yoga postures, conscious breathing and will end with guided relaxation. Come dance, have fun, get fit and smile in this aerobic fitness class that is sweeping the nation. As seen on "The Today Show" and appearing in the Plain Dealer, come find out what all the excitement is about. This class blends traditional moves with high energy fitness moves. You do not need to know how to dance. Have fun, move, burn calories and let the music move you! All levels welcome. No experience necessary. Ashley Keener - Instructor.
Take this original dance-fitness class to the next level! Zumba Toning is an exciting and innovative muscle training program with the addition of light weights. In a relatively short period of time, this challenging workout helps in building coordination and muscle endurance. It is designed to offer the participant a safe, yet effective total body toning workout! Class is open to everyone, no previous dance or Zumba class experience necessary.

Our 13,500 sq. ft. fitness area is packed with free weights, state-of-the-art Cybex equipment, a helpful staff, and everything else you need to get in shape and stay in shape.
We offer group exercise classes, as well as personal trainers who can help you tailor your workout to your body's specific needs. Call 440.808.5700 today to sign up for a class, or talk to one of our dynamic personal trainers* to set up a session.
Bring your membership card to the fitness room and scan in before entering the fitness room.
You must be at least 15 years old to use the equipment or to be in the fitness room. If you are under 18, you must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Please sign up for the cardiovascular machines at the fitness desk if all the machines are in use, and respect the 30-minute limit.
Please wipe down the machines after each use.
Re-rack the weight plates, dumbbells, and barbells after each use.
Proper attire(shirts, shorts and athletic shoes) is required. No bathing suits, sandals/flipflops, jeans or jean shorts.
Please ask the staff to change the TV channels.
Cell phones are not permitted in the fitness room.
Personal training is only permitted by certified individuals who have a signed contract with the City of Westlake.
The fitness staff is available to answer questions, demonstrate the use of equipment, and to provide information on basic exercise plans and guidelines.
Equipment instruction classes are available on a monthly basis. Registration is required.
