Youth Advisory Board

The City of Westlake established the Community Services Department Youth Advisory Board to advise and assist the Director of the City of Westlake Community Services Department, Program Planner, Youth Coordinator and the Westlake Recreation Department Athletic Coordinator.

Members of this program are community ambassadors for the department’s programs. They provide assistance with program support, suggestions, volunteerism, membership, intergenerational programming, food drives and/or fundraising. They must be passionate, nonjudgmental, committed, creative, aware of the community, have varied viewpoints and backgrounds.

Membership is limited to residents of Westlake or children of adults employed within the City of Westlake who have a special interest or expertise in leadership. Members must be a high school student.

Youth Coordinator


Under the direction of the Senior and Community Services Department, the Youth Coordinator works with Westlake City Schools, the Westlake Recreation Department, social service agencies, and the Westlake Police Department to coordinate youth services and programs for our City. The Youth Coordinator serves on the Westlake Juvenile Diversion Commission, coordinating activities associated with the Westlake Juvenile Diversion Program. The Youth Coordinator conducts intake assessments, assigns diversion cases to Magistrates and Youth Commissioners, makes mental health and/or substance abuse referrals when appropriate, facilitates the completion of sanctions by juveniles, and provides support to families throughout the Juvenile Diversion process.
