Porter Rd and Lansing Dr Waterline Replacement and Roadway Rehabilitation
Westlake, Ohio – In a significant development for the city's infrastructure, the Engineering Department, in accordance with authorization from the City Council during their meeting on March 2, 2023, has finalized plans for the installation of a new 8-inch water main and various repairs to the sanitary and storm sewer systems. These improvements will be carried out on Porter Road, spanning from Center Ridge Rd south to the south corporation line, and Lansing Drive, from Porter Road to the western corporation line. Additionally, the project entails the elimination of roadside ditches where necessary. Upon completion of all water and sewer work, the affected roadways will be resurfaced, providing a comprehensive upgrade for the area.
The ambitious undertaking will involve upgrading approximately 4,100 feet of waterline and 4,100 feet of pavement. Lansing Drive will witness the replacement of 1,600 linear feet of waterline, alongside storm sewer improvements and the elimination of roadside ditches, culminating in the final step of repaving the street. Porter Road's scope of work encompasses the replacement of 2,500 linear feet of waterline, in addition to sanitary and storm sewer repairs, including the enclosure of certain roadside ditches.
As the project progresses, Lansing Drive is expected to commence construction first, with late April to early May targeted for the initial phase. Porter Road's work is scheduled to start in June, later in the construction season. While every effort will be made to maintain two-way traffic throughout the project, it is advised that an alternate route be considered due to potential traffic backups and delays within the construction zone.
