2021 Sidewalk Repair Program, Quadrant 1
The City of Westlake, Department of Engineering began the 2021 Sidewalk Repair Program in the southeast quadrant of the City, Quad 1, covering neighborhoods south of Hilliard Blvd. and east of Dover Center Road. If you live in this area you should of received notification by mail of any sidewalk violations that needed replacement or repair. The goal of this program is to identify and address areas of sidewalk in need of repair or replacement for the sake of the general health of welfare of the community. The City’s Sidewalk Inspection Program was enacted in 2001 by Codified Ord. 905.08, which contains more details.

Clague Park Play Ground Upgrade
1500 Clague Road, this Project will consist of many site improvements and new playground equipment.
Bid Info: Bid was opened on Tuesday, August 17, 20201 at 2:00 p.m. Contract has been awarded to Mr. Excavator Inc., by City Council on September 2, 2021. Please see our Bid Tabs for more details.
Update: Project is planed to be completed in May of 2022.
Lilly Weston House
The City has applied and obtained a grant from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, (OFCC Community Grant) to help fund the restoration. The work funded through this grant along with some City funds will include the following.
- Framing, removal and rebuild of rotted materials
- New floor flooring only subflooring currently exists
- 1850's Section replacement of all rotted joists and subfloor.
- Remove circa 1960's stairs in a 1840's section:
- Reframe opening to match existing
- Relocate stairs to original location with construction of the era
- Correct hardwood staircase and railing
- Structural roof repairs for the 1850 Section
- Masonry repairs
- window replacement, only when too rotted to repair, using cypress, reclaimed glass where possible,
- Construction of new period appropriate front stoop with reclaimed sandstone to the 1840's Section
- Adding a ADA entry at recessed porch on 1850 Section, related A/E services.
Crocker Road Widening
This project will include installing a south bound right hand turn lane at Center Ridge Rd, along with protected left turn lanes at Monroe Trail, Hummingbird Way, Indian Ridge and Coventry Drive. A boulevard will be installed with landscaping and trees. This project will improve safety along the Crocker Road from Center Ridge to Hilliard Blvd., adding additional capacity and enhancements.
Although the roadway will remain open, drivers should plan alternate routes. Traffic patterns will be alternating often and delays should be expected.

Seneca Drive Waterline Replacement and Roadway Rehabilitation
A new 8 inch water main will be installed. Storm and sanitary sewer repair will be completed along with some roadside ditch elimination. Once all water and sewer work is complete, the roadway will be resurfaced. The project will upgrade 1,400 feet of waterline and 1,400 feet of pavement. The water main replacement will reduce maintenance cost in the future of the roadway, water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer along with increase fire protection.
Hawkins Rd Waterline Replacement and Roadway Rehabilitation
A new 8-inch (8") water main will be installed. Storm and sanitary sewer repair will be completed along with some roadside ditch elimination. Once all water and sewer work is complete, the roadway will be resurfaced. The project will upgrade 1,700 feet of waterline and 1,150 feet of pavement. The water main replacement will reduce maintenance cost in the future of the roadway, water main, storm sewer and sanitary sewer along with increase fire protection.
Columbia Road and Marview Drive Asphalt Resurfacing
The scope of the project includes removal and replacement of the top three inches of asphalt on Columbia Rd (Hilliard Blvd to Detroit Rd) - 3,600 L.F. and Marview Drive- 2,200 L.F of Pavement. Also, the repair of the catch basins, curbs and handicap ramps and re-striping the roadway will be included to meet current standards. The resurfacing of Columbia Road is substantially complete. Workers are now beginning resurfacing along Marview Drive.
New Tennis Courts
This project is the reconstruction of the tennis courts at the Westlake Recreation Center Park that were removed to make room for the new Westlake Center for Community Services. This new four tennis court complex will be more assessable to the general public with parking adjacent to the courts.

2021 Concrete Rehabilitation with Catch Basin Repairs
2021 Pavement Crack and Joint Sealing Hot Applied
This work shall consist of the cleaning preparation and filling/over banding of pavement cracks or joints with a hot-applied crack sealant material in accordance with O.D.O.T. specification 423 except as modified herein and as directed by the Engineer. On various streets throughout the City of Westlake, Ohio.

Sanitary Sewer Improvements
The Engineering Department is in the process of examining Westlake’s city-wide sanitary sewer system to identify and address problems and collect data. Common issues that workers look for include water inflow or infiltration issues that can lead to flooding.
