Historical Women in Mathematics

Friday, May 17, 2019

This is a non-technical talk on the patterns found in the lives of women who have made significant contributions to what Guass called “the queen of the sciences.” The women range from Hypatia, an Egyptian philosopher and astronomer who is considered to be the first well-documented woman in mathematics, to Grace Hopper, an American computer scientist and United States Navy Rear Admiral. Presented by: Michael W. Lanstrum, B.A. Instructional Specialist, Developmental Education, Tri-C Speaker’s Bureau. RSVP by 5/13.
