U.S. Marshalls will conduct a training exercise on Tuesday, July 19, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westlake City Schools administrative offices (formerly Parkside Intermediate School), 24525 Hilliard Blvd. Westlake Police will provide support for the exercise but have a limited presence during the exercise. There will be scenarios that include shouting and screaming inside the building. The training will include the use of simulators, simunitions, and blank-fire ammunition. Residents and businesses should not be alarmed as this is a planned and resourced training event.
The Westlake Police Department is fully committed to preparing and rehearsing to professionally respond to any incident that may occur in the city. This is just another example of ongoing training in best practices for all of our employees to make Westlake one of the safest communities in Northeast Ohio.
