Westlake bids 'bittersweet' farewell to Gayle Hill

Gayle Hill and Mayor

The City of Westlake celebrated the retirement of longtime Administrative Assistant & Cemetery Administrator Gayle Hill on Monday, Aug. 8, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Mayor Dennis M. Clough called her retirement "bittersweet" as she has become a cherished part of the City's Service Department staff during her more than 21 years of service in Westlake, which followed 15 years of service in Olmsted Falls.

Gayle Hill retirement cakesGayle helped countless residents, providing exceptional customer service and representing the City beautifully throughout her tenure. Away from the City, she has led an adventurous life. During a two-year stint living in Japan, she successfully scaled the summit of Mt. Fuji! She was also known to enjoy a good slice of cake so the City provided not one, but TWO for her retirement celebration.

A large contingent of her coworkers, past and present, turned out to wish her well in retirement and recount their positive memories of working with Gayle.
