ALERT: Westlake Rec Center Closed/All Activities Suspended Until Further Notice

In light of new developments in the widespread effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of Westlake has decided that the Recreation Center should remain closed until further notice. The center is developing online video classes and other activities that can be done remotely.

Governor Mike DeWine’s latest directive to close bars and restaurants has sent a clear message about the importance of social distancing and the banning of large gatherings to slow the spread of the disease, which health officials are still working to fully understand. It is now apparent that we must go further to do what is in the best interest of our community’s health and safety.

On-location programming and room rentals at the Rec Center will be suspended for the foreseeable future. Staffers will be on hand to answer questions and address concerns by phone at 440-808-5700 or by email: recinfo@cityofwestlake.org. The center also will continue to conduct business transactions 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Members can still register for upcoming programs online.

Fitness and group exercise staffers are sending suggested video workouts people can do from home, and are developing Facebook Live classes, such as the one to the right with our Yoga instructor, Beth.

Also note that Meadowood Golf Course will be open when weather and course conditions cooperate.

The city would like to thank everyone for their understanding as we work together to make the best decisions during this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Mayor Dennis M. Clough
