[ARCHIVED] Westlake urges drivers to abide school zone laws

Traffic light

Under the COVID-19 circumstances, the Westlake City School District's attendance schedules are irregular and may continue to change as the school year progresses. In the interest of safety, drivers should assume classes are in session during the times when school speed limit signs are flashing and during the hours indicated on “No Right Turn on Red” traffic signs (weekdays from 7-9 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.).

Drivers are urged to add a few minutes to their commute to accommodate for delays incurred as they abide by the law, which Westlake Police will enforce. The schools and the Westlake Police Department appreciate drivers' patience and cooperation in keeping Westlake safe.
