Rec Center policy updates for occupancy, social distancing

As the weather gets colder and more people want to use the city’s indoor recreation facilities, the Westlake Rec Center would like to remind everyone that there are limits on the max number of people permitted in each area of the building at any given time. These limits are necessary to stay compliant with state health guidelines for social distancing as laid out in Gov. Mike DeWine's Responsible Restart Ohio initiative, which stipulate that public buildings should not exceed 15 percent occupancy capacity.

The capacity limits by area are as follows:
• Fitness Room: 50
• Basketball Courts: 50
• Pool: 60
• Indoor Track: 10

Beginning Monday, Nov. 2 (or earlier if attendance necessitates) members and residents will no longer be permitted to bring guests to the Rec Center with the exception of the pool.

The Tot Room will be open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Reservations will be required. Evening hours are Monday through Wednesday 4:00-7:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 2nd.

MASK REQUIREMENTS: Masks are to be worn when entering the building, around the building and while exiting. Masks may be removed to work out on a machine in the Fitness Room, while exercising, swimming or playing basketball.
