Youth Scholarship Program
Program Guidelines
Available for Westlake Residents - Residency verification is required.
Offered to Youth - 17 years of age and younger.
Maximum 50% match will be available on recreation programs administered by the city, while funds are available in the scholarship account.
Limited to 4 programs per person on an annual basis.
Needs Based - The applicant must qualify under the Family Income Guidelines and will be determined by the USDA Nutrition Program Income Guidelines (free and reduced lunches) and be considered under the poverty line according to their most recent Federal Income Tax Return.
Please note that all requests must be made a minimum of 10 days prior to the start of the program or a minimum of 10 days prior to the registration deadline for sports programs.
All requests must include: completed registration form, current proof of residency, and current proof of qualification under the Family Income Guidelines as determined by the USDA Child Nutrition Program Income Guidelines (free and reduced lunch program notification letter), and most recent Federal Income Tax Return. The City might require additional proof which must be provided upon request in order to qualify.
All requests should be submitted to the Recreation Director. These can be emailed (along with proper documentation) to Paula Horner or can be brought to the front desk of the Recreation Center in a sealed envelope with "Recreation Director - Confidential" noted on the envelope.
Once your request is verified and approved, the registration will be completed and the 50% balance will be in your household account. You will be notified of the approval and then must pay the balance online or in person at the front desk prior to the start of the program.
