The City of Westlake is excited to announce the 2026 Recreation Center Natatorium (Indoor Pool) Improvement Project — a significant renovation as the Recreation Center approaches its 28th anniversary.
What's being upgraded:
🔹 Pool deck resurfacing & new drain covers
🔹 Fresh interior painting of walls, ceiling & ductwork
🔹 New overhead lighting
🔹 Humidity corrections & repair of rusted metal at the slide tower
🔹 New diving board & starting blocks
🔹 Replacement of translucent panels and skylights at the slide tower
🔹 Improvements to Men's & Women's locker rooms
These renovations will deliver a refreshed look, improved functionality, and important safety enhancements for all visitors.
Timeline:
🔨 Construction begins: June 2026
✅ Expected completion: Approximately three months
What about swimming during construction? The city is working on an agreement with the City of Fairview Park to provide Westlake Rec Center members access to the new indoor pool at the Gemini Center. Members can also purchase a separate pass for the Westlake Aquatic Center outdoor facility — pass sales begin in March 2026.

🔹 1 indoor training bay with advanced swing technology
🔹 Outdoor open-air tees & grass tees — a premium feature rare in our region
🔹 Clubhouse renovations to complement the new facility
This project reflects resident feedback from the 2015 Master Plan Study, which ranked golf among the most desired recreational amenities in Westlake. The facility is designed for players of all ages and skill levels.

City Council approved the construction contract with Town Center Construction on December 18, 2025. During construction, Meadowood will remain open with two 9-hole par-3 courses, and discounted rates and additional specials will be offered. Clubhouse rentals will end on March 31, 2026.

Due to the delayed start of construction at the Recreation Center Athletic Fields and Park, the next summer concert will be held at the Recreation Center Pavilion instead of the Clague Park Gazebo. The concert will be held from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, July 20th and Sunday July 27th.
The August 3rd concert will be at Clague Park.

The Meadowood Golf Course will be closing early on Friday, July 4th. The operating hours that day will be 7:00am-3:00pm.
Due to the recent rainfall over the past few days, Meadowood Golf Course will be closed today to help protect the turf and ensure the best playing conditions.

Westlake's 36th Annual Charity Classic Car Show Returns July 4th
WESTLAKE, OH - Rev up for Independence Day! The City of Westlake will host its beloved 36th Annual Charity Classic Car Show on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Clague Park.
This family-friendly event features a judged car show with twelve trophy categories spanning Pre-1950s through 1980s vehicles, plus Best of Show. Registration is $15 from 10:00 AM to noon (no pre-registration required), with dash plaques for the first 150 cars and limited parking available.
Beyond classic automobiles, the celebration includes live music entertainment, pool access, concessions, family activities, games, and fireworks at dusk. Additional attractions include a dog show at noon and martial arts demonstrations from 12:30-1:00 PM.
Awards will be presented at 2:30 PM, with judging for all entries registered by noon. The event benefits the Westlake Community Center and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
