Responsibilities

The three members of the Civil Service Commission meet as needed to determine the merit and fitness of those wishing to be appointed or promoted into certain classes of public service within the Fire and Police Departments of the city.

Examinations

A Civil Service exam may be scheduled for entry-level or promotional positions in Westlake’s Police or Fire Departments. When an exam is open, details about test dates, requirements, and application processes will be posted here.

Entry Level Firefighter / Paramedic Exam: The City of Westlake is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Entry Level Firefighter / Paramedic, with immediate openings! The City will be continuously hiring during the 1-year period of the eligibility list, but testing must be completed between July 5, 2025 and August 5, 2025 through a National Testing Network (NTN) Test Center.
