The City of Westlake's first responders joined Travel Centers of America (TA) on Patriot's Day to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the September 11th attacks and in the years that followed.

The ceremony brought together community members and TA staff to remember and honor the heroes who lost their lives on that tragic day more than two decades ago, as well as those who have continued to serve and sacrifice in the years since.

dansyWestlake Police Department Lieutenant Dancy, who also serves as Lieutenant Colonel Dancy in the Ohio Army National Guard, served as master of ceremonies for the event. His dual role in both local law enforcement and military service added special significance to his participation in leading the commemorative program.

In a particularly moving moment, Westlake Fire Department Assistant Chief Freeman rang the ceremonial fire bell—a time-honored tradition in the fire service to honor fallen firefighters and first responders who gave their lives in service to others.

Mayor Dennis Clough also addressed those gathered, joining TA staff members who spoke during the ceremony. The event highlighted the strong partnership between the City of Westlake and Travel Centers of America in recognizing the sacrifices made by first responders and military personnel.

flagThe City of Westlake extends its gratitude to Travel Centers of America for including our first responders in this meaningful tribute and for their continued commitment to honoring those who serve our communities and nation.
