Spring has arrived, and with it comes one of Westlake’s most colorful traditions: the Westlake in Bloom Community Beautification Competition.
Open to residents and businesses alike, the competition celebrates creativity through gardens of all sizes — from expansive front yards to small balcony displays. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just getting started, this is an opportunity to showcase your work and contribute to the city’s visual charm.
This year’s event includes a special patriotic category in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, encouraging participants to incorporate red, white, and blue themes into their designs.
Entry forms are available at City Hall, the Recreation Center, Porter Library, and local garden centers, or can be downloaded online. Submissions must be completed by 4 p.m. on Friday, June 26, with judging scheduled for July 6–10.
One of the best parts? There’s no fee to enter.
Beyond competition, Westlake in Bloom is about community pride. It transforms neighborhoods into shared spaces of beauty, encourages environmental care, and brings people together through a common goal.
Whether you’re planting flowers, designing a landscape, or simply enjoying the results, this initiative helps make Westlake feel like home — one garden at a time.
