Hydrant Flushing

A person in a black shirt is operating a fire hydrant, with water flowing out onto the grass in a sunny outdoor setting.

The Westlake Fire Department flushes and inspects all of the city's public fire hydrants each spring, and also inspects select hydrants again in the fall. The Cleveland Water Department is notified of any fire hydrants found that need repair or replacement.

If you notice rusty water after hydrant flushing in your neighborhood, please run the COLD water from your sink until the water runs clear. If discoloration persists call the Cleveland Water Department’s Water Quality Line at 216-664-2639 during normal business hours or 216-664-3060 during non-business hours.
