This year’s Fourth of July celebration at Clague Park is getting even bigger.
After the parade, stick around for an afternoon of live music, a special America 250 craft tent, and a beer garden. It’s a chance to spend the day with neighbors, enjoy the park, and celebrate 250 years of American history right here in Westlake.

July 4th Holiday Collection
Since the July 4th holiday falls on a Saturday, it will not affect Rumpke’s rubbish/recycling collection. No delays in service.
City of Westlake offices are closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the July 4th holiday. The City’s Friday brush collection will be delayed until Monday.

Westlake in Bloom entries are due Friday, June 26, at 4 p.m. Residents and businesses can enter front yards, businesses, balcony gardens, and more. This year also includes a special America 250 patriotic design award. Judging is scheduled for July 6-10.

Did you ever see baseball played with the ball released underhand on the pitch, or a game played with 18 innings? The Cleveland Blues Baseball Club spreads baseball history by playing the vintage game, found in this link: https://clevelandbluesbaseball.com/the-vintage-game

Westlake is launching a Most Patriotic House Decorating Contest in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
Residents are invited to show their patriotic spirit by decorating their homes with red, white, and blue displays, flags, flowers, and other festive touches.
Entries are due August 31. Start planning your display and help Westlake celebrate this historic milestone.

It is a simple chance to show some pride. Fly the flag at your home, take a minute to talk with your kids about what it represents, or read up on a bit of its history. A few quick reminders if you are displaying yours: raise it briskly, lower it ceremoniously, light it if you fly it at night, and when a flag is worn out, please retire it properly rather than tossing it in the trash.
Ahead of Flag Day, you can drop off old, torn, or unused flags for proper disposal at Westlake City Hall, the Community Services Center, the American Legion Hall on Cahoon Road, or the drop-off boxes at your nearest VFW Hall.

Cornerstone at Walter Road will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday, June 10, and continuing through Friday, June 20, 2026. Local traffic may enter only. Drivers should watch for changes in traffic patterns throughout the week and follow posted detour signs.

The new fast-casual drive-thru coffee spot marked the occasion with a $2,000 donation to the Cuyahoga County Humane Society and plenty of community energy. Dogs are welcome too, with pup cups available for four-legged visitors.
Thank you to the Westshore Chamber of Commerce, Councilwoman Amy Havelka, representatives from the Humane Society, and Tina Ludwig from the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office for joining the celebration.
