Have you noticed the pinwheels outside the rec center?
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the City of Westlake is proud to participate in the Pinwheel Garden Initiative in partnership with the Canopy Child Advocacy Center. Each pinwheel planted symbolizes a commitment to safe, happy, and healthy childhoods for all children in our community.
The blue pinwheels represent the 1 in 10 children who will experience abuse before their 18th birthday. By displaying them prominently at the Westlake Recreation Center, we stand in solidarity with the children and families impacted by abuse and support efforts to prevent it.
Let’s continue to work together to raise awareness, foster safe environments, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive. 💙

Last night, the Westlake City Council convened to address key city matters, including budget adjustments, infrastructure improvements, and service enhancements. 🏛️
🔹 Key Highlights:
✔️ Defeated: Ordinance 2024-97, which proposed a lease agreement with E&C Sports Group, LLC for Market Square.
✔️ Deferred: Meadowood Golf Course driving range development plan to a future date.
✔️ First Readings: Several ordinances were introduced, including:
• Appropriations adjustments for city funding.
• A contract with Transconomy, LLC for professional services.
• Purchase of a Zeus Plus Scan Tool for the Service Department.
• Bids for asphalt, concrete, stone, sand, and gravel for city projects.
Due to fewer than five council members present, the three-reading rule could not be suspended for first-reading adoptions.
Stay tuned for more updates, and visit www.cityofwestlake.org for full details and meeting minutes. Your voice matters! 💬

Westlake is seeing steady lake-effect snow right now, and our plow crews are out in full force working to keep the roads clear! ❄️🚛 Our team is prioritizing main roads and emergency routes before moving to residential streets, so please give plow trucks plenty of space to do their job safely.
⚠️ Driving Tips:
✔️ Slow down and allow extra travel time.
✔️ Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
✔️ Avoid unnecessary travel if conditions worsen.
